The 7 Best Questions to Ask Before Buying A Trampoline

August 09, 2021

Getting a trampoline is a great way to keep the kids (and you) active at home!

Kids are always looking for something to do, and more and more families are recognising that a trampoline is the perfect answer to that question. They are a great source of exercise and fun, and modern trampolines in the United Kingdom are generally built with safety in mind.

But….trampolines are a big purchase, and therefore it is important that you ask the right questions to make sure you get the right trampoline for your family!

To help out your buying process, the team at Jumpflex have compiled a list of answers to the most common questions that people ask when looking to buy a trampoline for your kids.

7 Questions to Ask Before Buying a Trampoline

1 – What size trampoline will fit in my yard?

Trampolines come in different shapes and sizes, so make sure that the trampoline you purchase will fit in your yard. Jumpflex have 4 trampoline sizes - 8ft, 10ft, 12ft and 14ft. Keep in mind that a safety net can flex up to 1 meter, so allow additional free space to allow for this (1 meter) around the entire trampoline. You should also check out the weight rating of the trampoline you're interested in as larger trampolines can generally hold more weight.

2 – How big of a jumping surface do I want?

There are a few key considerations here. If you’ll often have more than one person on the trampoline, go for a bigger model. Also if your kids (or adults!) are older (10yrs+), then the more space the better as they learn new trampoline tricks

Lastly, it is important to know what the measurement means. A trampoline frame that measures 14ft, includes both the springs and pad as part of the surface area.

3 – Does the trampoline come with an enclosure/safety net?

For the safety of participants, we recommend you get a high-quality trampoline with a 360 degree safety net that clips down all the way around the trampoline.  Read more about Jumpflex's safety features.

4 – Do I want a trampoline with springs or a springless option?

When choosing a spring-based trampoline, make sure that the springs are not exposed. They should be covered with a pad.

Springless trampolines use flexible rods underneath. They can be more expensive and harder to assemble, which is why high-quality spring-based trampolines are the best sellers.

5 – How much help will I need to install the trampoline?

It is possible to set-up a trampoline frame, net and mat all by yourself (check out the video to see!), however we recommend that two people work together. This way it is a quicker and more seamless process!

6 - How do I choose which brand of trampoline to buy?

Trampolines and play equipment are expensive and there is a lot of choice, however, not all trampolines are built with the same quality and craftsmanship. We recommend taking the time to look at a few review sites - Google, Facebook, and Product Reviews before taking the plunge.

7 - What kind of warranty does the trampoline offer?

Be sure to look at the length of time and what’s covered in the trampoline warranty. Also ask if you’ll be able to order replacement parts, such as springs or frame parts, should something not be covered under the warranty.

Quality trampolines can help you make your backyard into a special place that your children will remember forever.  Now it is time to get your kids spending their summers outside, jumping, shooting hoops, having aqua fun, and sliding
